Avocado and Havarti Toast

We never have enough time to feed ourselves here at Real Food Real Kitchens. With so much good food in front of us each day, you'd think we'd figure out quick and healthy ways to start our day or make a simple mid-day snack. However, we often revert to what many of us do when we need something fast: a donut, a cup of light n sweet coffee, a candy bar or a soda... So it has been our mission lately to find some healthier alternatives that won't take us more than a few minutes to create. All it really takes is some advanced planning to be sure you have fresh and healthy ingredients on hand to create with.

We love is this recipe for avocado and Havarti toast. Slice up an avocado, some Havarti cheese, a Roma tomato and you've got it! Do you have a 'go to' quick n' healthy snack? Share it with us! 


2 slices of wheat bread

1 avocado sliced

1 Roma tomato sliced

Several slices of Havarti cheese (we used Arla Dofino Havarti)

Cold-pressed Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil (we used Carrington Farm's)

Olive Oil (we used Amoretti premium organic extra virgin finishing olive oil)

Sea Salt & Pepper to taste



Lightly toast two slices of wheat bread.

Spread a light layer of coconut oil on each slice.

Put on your slices of Havarti cheese and put in a toaster over for about 1 minute to melt the cheese.

Add on your Roma tomatoes, slices of avocado, lightly drizzle with olive oil, then add salt & pepper to taste.


It's really that simple. Essentially this is an open faced grilled cheese, you could even turn it in to a grilled cheese for lunch. We cut it in to halves so we could share it around the office. Any way you slice it this took us about 5 minutes to make and got us through the rest of the day.
