Real Food Real Kitchens is all about Family, Food, Culture and History and passing down family food traditions so when we heard Kozy Shack found a grandmother living in Florida to be the new face of their brand we thought 'perfect!' Grandmother Marilyn Cisek was selected from a pool of applicants and will personify Kozy Shack in an online, print, and broadcast campaign this spring.
It was because of Kozy Shack’s dedication to using wholesome food that made Cisek want to enter the spokesperson search.
“Wholesome food in moderation has always been my mantra. I thought Kozy Shack and I would be a good fit. I have always tried to feed our family of four daughters the most wholesome food possible as they were growing up,” Cisek said.
She is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota and is the company’s first 'Official Grandma'. “My mother and widowed grandmother had just come out of the Great Depression and we were into World War II,” Cisek said. “Out of necessity, simple eating with simple ingredients was our diet.” She went further, saying that it is now easier to get the homemade pudding taste from Kozy Shack.
Kozy Shack originated in 1967 in a neighborhood eatery selling homemade rice pudding. They have now expanded to popular retail stores and are the United States’ number one producer of rice and tapioca pudding. They still make their pudding the “right way” by slow-simmering rice, milk, sugar, and eggs in small-kettle batches.
“Remember when Grandma would tell you how important it is to do things the right way? Well, that’s Marilyn through and through,” Andy Braunshausen, marketing director for Kozy Shack, said in a press release.
According to Cisek, she passes down the family food tradition by always finishing dinner with something sweet, which often meant homemade pudding. It was comfort food for her and her daughters as well.
“Being part of the Kozy Shack family has been a roller coaster of emotions for me... excitement that I was about to enter a whole new world of being a spokesperson and apprehension at the awesome responsibility that entails. The great news is that the Kozy Shack family that I have met is every bit as friendly and wholesome as their wonderful products!”
